Dentures in Lakehills

Dentures replace several or all missing teeth with a removable appliance designed around your mouth. A thoughtful plan considers appearance, stability, bite, cleaning, and how tissues may change over time.

Understand your options

Full and partial dentures

A full denture replaces all teeth in the upper or lower arch. A partial denture replaces several missing teeth while remaining natural teeth help support or retain the appliance.

Denture treatment considers the gums and supporting tissues, available space, jaw relationship, smile, speech, and how the appliance can be kept clean.

Denture options differ in design and support; an exam helps determine which approach may fit your mouth and goals.

Reasons to talk with a dentist

Realistic expectations for daily function

Dentures do not feel exactly like natural teeth. Chewing efficiency and stability vary, especially when the supporting ridge has changed over time.

A new appliance may need adjustments as your mouth adapts. Pressure spots should be evaluated rather than tolerated, and persistent looseness deserves an exam.

  • Replace visible gaps
  • Support speech after adjustment
  • Broaden food choices compared with missing teeth
  • Support the lips and cheeks
  • Distribute biting forces
  • Provide a removable tooth-replacement option

Your visit

What to expect

01

Oral evaluation

Dr. Krishna examines the gums, bone contours, remaining teeth, and existing dental work.

02

Records and planning

Measurements and impressions or scans help plan shade, shape, tooth position, bite, and support for the lips.

03

Delivery and adjustment

Follow instructions for wear and cleaning and call if the appliance causes persistent soreness or will not stay in place.

04

Ongoing maintenance

As tissues change, relining, repair, or replacement may eventually be needed. Regular oral exams remain important.

After your visit

Getting used to a new denture

Begin with manageable foods and chewing patterns recommended by the dentist. Smaller bites and chewing on both sides may improve control. Speaking aloud can help with adaptation.

Do not use household glue or reshape a denture yourself. Remove and clean it as directed, and also clean your tongue, gums, palate, and any natural teeth.

Common questions

Dentures FAQs

Will dentures look natural?+

Tooth shade, shape, position, and the relationship to your lips all affect appearance. Share preferences during planning.

Can I eat normally with dentures?+

Dentures can improve chewing compared with having missing teeth, but they do not provide the same function as natural teeth.

Why does my denture feel loose?+

Fit changes as gums and the supporting ridge change. Weight changes, wear, and damage may also contribute. Schedule an exam.

Do I still need dental visits without natural teeth?+

Yes. Visits allow the dentist to check oral tissues, fit, bite, hygiene, and the appliance.
